Five new "spiel gut" awards for ANKER brain games

The tricky puzzles and brain games from ANKER have been awarded the coveted "spiel gut" seal by the "Working Committee Children's Games + Toys".

Such brain and patience games have been manufactured as ANKER puzzles for over 130 years. They have not lost any of their charm over the many decades and are still making children's and adults' heads buzz to this day.

Toys awarded the independent seal of quality "spiel gut" must meet many criteria. They should, for example, be environmentally compatible, stimulate the imagination and open many different playing possibilities.

Special emphasis is placed on the material, design, colour, shape, durability and child-friendly size of the toy. Potentially hazardous materials such as PVC and the plasticisers it contains are prohibited.

The "spiel gut" quality seal is awarded by the non-profit association "Working Committee Children's Games and Toys". This body, which is independent of the toy industry, comprises educators, psychologists, chemists and other experts from multiple disciplines. To test the toys, the association also uses the expertise of families and educational facilities such as kindergartens.

The Froebel Gifts were the origin of the first system toys in the world. According to scientists and educators, Anker Stones significantly enhance children's concentration, imagination and creativity. The Anker Stones have been made using natural materials for over 130 years in Rudolstadt / Thuringia. Following the forced closure of the factory in the GDR in 1963, the new Anker Stone factory is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

ANKER Steinbaukasten GmbH is owned by Gollnest & Kiesel.

Gollnest & Kiesel is Europe's innovative manufacturer of wooden toys and the largest toy company in northern Germany. The brands HEIMESS (baby toys made of wood and plastic, made in Germany), goki, HOLZTIGER, and ANKER Stone Building Sets are well known in the toy and gift trade. The company was founded 34 years ago by the two managing directors, the HEIMESS brand has existed for over 50 years, and ANKER Steinbaukasten GmbH in Rudolstadt dates back 130 years. More than 2,000 different products form one of the most varied ranges to be found anywhere in the toy industry.

"We produce toys for children's hands, heads and souls," says Gerhard Gollnest. Over 600 Gollnest & Kiesel employees worldwide are busy transforming a thousand new ideas into a thousand living colours.

Gollnest & Kiesel places a very special emphasis on forestation. "Whoever takes something from nature must give something back to it," says Fritz-Rüdiger Kiesel. Every year, Gollnest & Kiesel donates a new forest to Germany's least wooded state, Schleswig-Holstein. A tree is planted for every newborn child in the northernmost federal state. In this way, 300,000 new beech, maple and oak trees have been planted over the past ten years.
