About Us

Gollnest & Kiesel is Europe‘s innovative wooden toy manufacturer and the largest toy company in Northern Germany. The firm was founded in 1981 by Gerhard Gollnest and Fritz-Rüdiger Kiesel. Today Frank Jungclaus supports them as the third managing director. More than 500 GoKi employees worldwide are engaged in making children‘s nurseries and childhood in general more colourful. Over 2,000 different products make up one of the most varied assortments in the toy industry.

Socially committed

„Whoever takes something from nature must also give something back to it,“ says Fritz-Rüdiger Kiesel. That is why Gollnest & Kiesel donates a new forest every year to Schleswig-Holstein, Germany‘s least wooded federal state – planting one tree for each newborn child. More than 400,000 beech, oak and maple trees have been planted in this way since 2004.

Gollnest & Kiesel stands for responsible toys. Wooden toys are a product of the chain: plant forest – harvest trees – process wood. Gollnest & Kiesel uses only wood from sustainable European forestry and works to make as many products as possible recyclable, i.e. cradle-to-cradle.
We have set ourselves the ambitious and unique goal of eliminating the four plastics PVC, PU, ABS and PS from all our toys by 2020 and replacing them with environmentally friendly alternatives.

Gollnest & Kiesel is also socially committed worldwide. This supports the building of schools in developing countries such as Mali, Peru or Uganda. There, children who previously had to work in mines, for example, are given the opportunity to receive an education. In GoKi‘s own factory in China, western standards prevail with regard to occupational safety and security. The employees receive a wage that is far above the usual pay scale. It goes without saying that no GoKi toys are built by children. We make toys FOR children, not BY children.

Quality and safety standards

Toys should be fun and safe. In order to guarantee the highest safety standards, the GoKi quality management team continuously tests all products in its own laboratory. External testing institutes also regularly inspect GoKi products in extensive tests.

Numerous GoKi toys have received the „spiel gut“ seal. The seal distinguishes toys that meet the highest standards in terms of quality, safety and play value.

Several GoKi toys have already won „The Golden Rocking Horse“ award. And in 2019, three products are nominated in three categories: the push-along Zebra-Duck from goki (Art. No. 54959), the Moose balancing game from goki nature (Art. No. 56692) and the giant Ludo board game by goki made in Germany (Art. No. 56793).

Gollnest & Kiesel is successful with three brands; in 2018 our company received the „German Brand Award“ in the category „Industry Excellence in Branding Kids & Toys“.

Already in 2016, Gollnest & Kiesel received the „German Brand Award“ for the sustainable brand „goki nature“. In the same year, the „goki nature“ Wheel Loader (Art. No. 55910) won the „German Design Award“ for its unusual and innovative design.
